NAMING for Adrian Clarke is a set of writing which is as yet unfinished. The starting point was a request from Adrian, in the spring of 2007, that I make a cover image for his book Possession which was published by Writers Forum and Veer Publications in the autumn of 2007. It was an invitation that I was keen and proud to accept because Adrian is a fine poet.

There was little time to meet the printers' schedule. Having made images that I judged to be satisfactory enough for publication, I set the work aside for a later day when I have the leisure to continue it.

By that time, I had built up quite a range of formal and content experiments, which collectively declared themselves to be another section of my NAMING series; and I had and have a desire to follow the possibilities they suggest for new work.

Those images, all but two unpublished so far, were used as the basis for the score of two performance pieces -- NAMING for Adrian Clarke ## 1 & 2 made with John Levack Drever on Wednesday 13th June 2007 at Shunt Lounge in London. For fuller details, see the page collaborations with John Drever
